Family order of services
The challenge
Over 300 photos, many songs, eulogy, church order and video.
When grieving, it’s a lot. So Matthew asked for help in preparing order of services, scanning photos and preparing a video tribute for his mum, the mother of the family.
Sadly, a year later, the same service was needed for the dad’s memorial as well.
My approach
Talk it over in person, on the phone and via text to be available as much as possible with any thoughts and queries that the family had.
Try to find out some of the things that mum liked, what colours represented her best – that people associated with her, what about particular patterns and songs she liked. While we were talking over those kind of aspects with Matthew and the brothers, a picture starts to emerge in my mind of the general way the work should be done.
I present a general styling overview by email to get an initial feedback – to ensure I was thinking on the right track, and once that has been agreed – I complete the rest of the documents and video.
The outcome
2 sets of Order of Service booklets, with video tributes.
A closer relationship with the family, knowing they can trust me to help with their design and print in some of the most challenging times a person can go through.
