Why Most Facebook Marketing Doesn’t Work

To buy Facebook advertising, or not to buy Facebook advertising…. That is the question that this writer goes a long way to answer.

Solid material for those who are interested in using Facebook to promote their business.

(Hint – it’s not always about the money.)

Iteration

Today saw the third version of the Blue Eye WordPress installation.

I started off with an off-the-shelf theme which was extremely clever and pretty, but in the end I found it both difficult to maintain, and slightly tough for the user to navigate.

The second (and third) version was a modified version of the Gravy theme made available by Darren Hoyt. I quite liked the basic theme from the offset, and only really modified a few of the measurements and the colours.

Today, I brought in the current version, which still need a bit more work, but is well on the direction that I intended… Although so far it has mostly been more refinement of margins and fonts, eagle-eyed viewers might notice that there has been a few pretty drastic changes. All of which I hope are for the better.

  • The number of pages is reduced from 9 down to 5.
  • The blog itself is now the home page. This is the page where most of the activity is meant to happen, so let it be seen first.
  • The Portfolio page now replaced the previous Design, Illustration, and Photo pages.

I’ve been thinking; all of the sites and news that I personally follow tend to have a general feeling of being simple. I want to try to develop this place into an area where I can do something similar – convey interesting materials, from an uncluttered platform.

I hope you enjoy this quest along with me.

Aaron.

John Maeda Shares Some Thoughts

Interesting lecture given by president of RISD on the correlation and cycle of design and technology. Hosted on the Adobe Museum of Digital Media. Definitely worth a watch.

Happy New year!

A Happy New Year, an exciting new avenue.

Development: In the last newsletter, I mentioned that there were plans afoot, and that we were dotting the”I’s” and crossing the “T’s”… Well that time has come to an end, and I am very pleased to introduce to you www.trustedprint.co.uk. Which is an extension of Blue Eye Graphics, not a new company, but a new website where you can order your printing and your design work online.

Same great stuff…

As you know, Blue Eye has always been concerned with great service, great quality, and of course great value for money. This addition to the business carries that on with high speed, and high quality print with prices at your fingertips. And turnaround as quickly as next day for some of the new products available.

As ever, thanks for reading this. Thank you for choosing Blue Eye for your projects. We are looking forward to an exciting time in 2011!
Best regards,
Aaron
