Shawn Blanc on App Emails

A well-written and more importantly well-thought-out article from Shawn on how those that create apps for devices should get champion bloggers to review them….

The reason I like to it? Two reasons actually, no make that three…. I like the guy, it’s plainly a good article, and, if you swap the word “App” for “business“, then this is a pretty nice long-term marketing manual.

Take a look.

The Kind of Wedding Design I Wish I Had Made

Bottomrightcorner

You have to look at the wedding invitation that these guys put together. Clever, beautiful, and well built. I wish I could have come up with a wedding invitation that had a built in tune. Behold – a paper record player! Probably the coolest invitation I have come across.

Before I Die… Wonderful Street Installation

“Before I Die…” is a beautiful, simple and effective street art installation located on a run-down house in New Orleans by Candy Chang.

Before i die angled wall

This kind of art, to me, is the kind of work that I wish I could think of when I am questioned about the ‘validity’ of modern art. It is the kind of work that allows the viewer to think, feel and participate in the work itself. Which allows people to invest themselves in the piece.

The value of the work, is not the components of which it was built, just some chalkboard paint, some spray and some permission from people. But if you look through the article itself, and read some of the responses from the local residents, then you can see the value in the work.

A great find. To me, this is visually pleasing, but it’s the evidence of the involvement of other people in the work that makes it so exceptional.

Please, for your own sake – take a look at her page documenting the project.

Gap UI design Theory

It’s amazing how nerdy you can discover you are after all… After viewing the video (46 mins) think not just about how much you remember from the different versions of the Operating Systems, but also about what you remember with the most nostalgia.

Gap UI design

Yes indeed, I am a true nerd for this kind of thing.

Shockingly beautiful Rawness

No need for words in this video. It is really just superbly shot and descriptive on its own.
